Working at Heights Refresher Information
After 3 years, workers need to successfully complete a refresher program to keep their training valid for another 3 years.
This Refresher Training will renew your Working at Heights certification for 3 Years by offering practical knowledge, hands-on equipment and setup exercises while addressing safe practices and procedures as specified in Regulations by the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario.
To be eligible for refresher training, workers must have previously successfully completed both modules of an approved Working at Heights training program.

Payment: $130.00 Plus HST and Eventbrite fees per person based on a minimum class size requirement.

This comprehensive CPO approved Working at Heights Safety Program is designed to align with the Ministry of Labour Immigration, Training Skills Development’s program standards, ensuring participants gain the necessary knowledge and skills to work safely and effectively at elevated heights.
The course begins with an in-depth exploration of relevant legislation and regulations governing working at heights, providing participants with a solid foundation in legal compliance. Emphasis is placed on understanding the hazards associated with working at elevated heights, as well as the importance of risk assessment and hazard control measures. Through a combination of theoretical lectures, practical demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to properly inspect and use fall protection equipment, including harnesses, lanyards, and anchor points. The course also covers rescue procedures, emergency response planning, and the development of a comprehensive fall protection plan.
Learning Outcomes | By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
- Identify the rights and responsibilities of workplace parties as they pertain to working at heights
- Identify hazards of working at heights and associated consequences
- Explain the role of safe work plans and procedures in identifying hazards of falling from heights
- Explain the hierarchy of controls related to working at heights
- Describe types of warning methods and physical barriers and identify when they would be appropriate
- Identify and assess situations in which ladders could be used safely for working at heights, and when alternative means of access would be more appropriate
- Explain when fall protection systems would be required and their components
- Discuss the limitations of fall protection systems
- Demonstrate an ability to inspect and identify deficiencies in industry-standard personal fall arrest equipment
- Demonstrate how to appropriately “don” and “doff” (i.e. put on and take off) industry-standard personal fall arrest equipment, including harness and lanyard
- Explain methods to maintain tie-off at all times to an anchor point when changing anchor points
- Discuss the appropriate location, use, and differences of anchor points
- Identify the different types of equipment that may be available to safely perform a variety of tasks at heights and the fall protection systems used with them
- Identify the purpose and key components of rescue plans

Please note: This is an 4 hour course Facilitated by MSW Training and Consulting (CPO# WAH-362019) and the HMA has the right to cancel/reschedule the class if the minimum class size required is not met. You will be notified of any changes within 5 business days of the scheduled training session.
HMA Cancellation Policy: An administrative fee of 15% will be charged for any booking withdrawals. A refund of 85% will be given if a company/registrant withdraws within 7 business days prior to the course date. Following this the full amount will be charged.
Class/Program Cancellation: All pre-paid fees will be refunded within 7 business days if the course is cancelled.
